Grant Sawyer, became director of Coaching at North Valley in 2009. In his first year in charge of North Valley he led the club to its best overall season ever. (checkout the highlights under Team success). Grant is a highly-accomplished soccer coach with over fifteen years of experience directing, coaching & training at the youth, Club, High School & ODP levels. Many of Grant’s former players are current MLS, NCAA college players or coaches themselves now. A number of his teams have been nationally ranked in the top 10 and had great success. To name just a few of his team’s major Championships over the past few years: San Diego Surf Cup, Celtic Cup, Nomads College Showcase, Arsenal Route 66 Classic, So Cal Nike Invitational, NHB Cup, CSL League Cup, Irvine Strikers Harvest Cup, Sereno Pro Classic and Pateadores Cup. All of these tournaments are nationally-ranked events. In addition, Grant has taken two of his teams to Europe where they competed in Gothenburg, Sweden at the prestigious Gothia Cup (the world’s largest youth soccer tournament). His teams also competed in Holland Cup (Almere,Netherlands) & Dana Cup in (Hjorring, Denmark).
Grant coached in England with Sunderland AFC Youth program. He has also directed and worked with numerous youth camps over the years. In 2007, Grant was invited to Seoul, Korea to direct soccer camps for Wow Sports Soccer. Grant was born in England & moved to California at the age of 9 with his family. He returned to England at the age of 17 where he played & coached. After numerous injuries Grant returned to California, where he has been coaching for the past 15 years. Grant also founded the 3v3worldwide Soccer Tour. Recently Grant returned to the Phoenix area where he previously attended high school at Thunderbird Adventist Academy in Scottsdale.
